Hours of Operation

History

Kingsland Christian Preschool was established in 2000. Over the years, many students have graduated as prepared kindergartners!  Our first students have just graduated high school!  I'm going to brag...many of our students have gone on to be Students of the Year at their schools,  have excelled in Math and Science, were placed in honors classes and have been inducted into the Junior National Honor Society!   Because of God’s faithfulness and the support of the community, the school is continually growing and meeting a need for quality early childhood education.

Philosophy and Curriculum

It is the goal of Kingsland Christian Preschool to provide a Christ-centered, early childhood educational program that will give preschoolers in our community opportunity, atmosphere, and assistance to succeed. We believe that children are our most precious resources; therefore, we will help them to develop skills under the direction of teachers who love and honor Jesus Christ, in cooperation with parents, who are the primary educators of their children.

Our Curriculum

During the year, we blend two different Christian curriculums: Wee-Learn and ABC Jesus Loves Me.  Using these curriculums, along with activities planned by our teachers, we foster an environment that supports Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. These building blocks include: literacy, science, physical and motor development, history and social science, mathematics, and personal and social development.

Facilities

KCP classrooms are located on the first floor of the Educational Building at Kingsland Baptist Church, located next to the Worship Center. We will spend time daily on the playground, weather permitting! Scherer Fellowship Hall may be used for recreational activities or special events as well.

What does a typical day at our preschool look like?

9:30am-10:00am

Students arrive & are greeted by their teacher with a big smile! We encourage our students to hang up their backpacks and put away their lunchboxes before getting started with our day. Generally, we start the day with welcome activities, which range from working together at the table to learn skills and subjects like colors, shapes, numbers, and letters, or playing together at various centers around the classroom to encourage sharing and working together.

10:00am- 10:30am

This is our special circle time, where we come together to learn new things. We sing songs, talk about the weather, the calendar, and the subject of our welcome activity. Story time always revolves around a weekly theme, such as special holidays or seasonal subjects. Additionally, we have a special Bible story we discuss every week,  which is incorporated into many of our activities throughout the week.

10:30am - 11:00am

Typically during this time, we sit together at the tables and work together on an activity that relates to our story and/or theme of the week. These are hands on activities, such as science projects, arts and crafts, and other activities to encourage fine motor skills.

11:00am - 11:30am

Lunch time! Each student must bring their own lunch every day.

11:30am-12:00pm

During this time, if the weather is nice enough, we take our students outside to our lovely fenced in playground for a chance to use up some of that wonderful preschooler energy!

12:00pm- 12:30pm

To end our day together, we spend the last portion of the day in different ways. Sometimes we may have another table activity or project, or we may play games together at the carpet.

If Chesterfield County Schools close due to inclement weather, we will also close. You will be notified of the closing by staff, announcements on this website, and reports to WRIC 8 television.
